Legacy Champions of Health

Champions of Health (COH) Fall Gala Extravaganza is a televised Award Show where nominated Champions of Health; individuals who have worked diligently and/or who have tremendously and positively contributed to the health of the community are recognized.  The awarded individuals also actively contribute in any capacity possible to the Annual Free Community Clinic which aims to provide free medical, dental and eye care to approximately 5,000 uninsured and/or underinsured people in the Metro Atlanta community.  

The funds raised from the COH Fall Gala event is used to assist with the cost of providing free services at the Clinic. The Gala generally features a fine dining, and entertaining experience with local and celebrity status artists, great music and a silent auction. Free services will also include learning how to reverse and prevent lifestyle diseases such as Diabetes, provide Back-to-School Physicals, Healthy Living Seminars, Healthy Cooking demonstrations and much more.  

The Champions of Health Gala Extravaganza is a delightful and formal evening affair for a great and worthy non-profit cause. Feel free to submit your nomination for a noteworthy health professional or someone you know who has been committed and consistently makes a positive impact in the health of the community, and/or who is a genuinely consistently a caring health professional.  All nominations must be submitted by August 31 each year for the upcoming Awards Show. Previous Recipient of the Legacy Champion of Health Award

Timothy R. Jennings, M.D. 

Dr. Jennings is board certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is licensed to practice medicine in TN and GA. He is also board certified in adult psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, in forensic psychiatry by the American Board of Forensic Examiners and the American Board of Forensic Medicine, a Senior Disability Analyst and Diplomat by the American Board of Disability Analysts, and a Master Psychopharmacologist certified by the Neuroscience Education Institute.

He obtained his M.D. degree in 1990 from the University of Tennessee College Of Medicine in Memphis, TN. He completed psychiatric residency at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Augusta, GA and has served as the Division Psychiatrist for the 24th and 3rd Infantry Divisions. He has also served as the United States Surgeon General’s delegate to the American Medical Association’s Resident section and as the Chief of Psychiatry at Winn Army Community Hospital at Fort Stewart, GA.

Dr. Jennings is a member of the American Medical Association, American Psychiatric Association, American Board of Forensic Examiners, American Board of Forensic Medicine, American Board of Disability Analysts, American Association of Christian Counselors, Christian Medical and Dental Association and the Georgia Psychiatric Association.

Glenn Parris MD

Glenn Parris, MD, Dr. Parris is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology and has been in practice for over 25 years. He is the CEO and President of Parris and Associates.  Parris and Associates is a rheumatology medical office that opened in 1999 with several practitioners who focus on the care and treatment of the rheumatic disease spectrum. This full-service practice includes an on-site infusion center, laboratory services, x-rays, imaging services including; bone densitometry, ultrasound guided procedures as well as clinical drug studies. The care team of Parris and Associates is fluent in English and Spanish. 

Dr. Parris is dedicated to diagnosis, care and improvement in the lives of patients. He ranks seeing a patient learn how to manage their chronic disease, lead a productive and happy life as one of the reasons for his continued commitment. Dr. Parris believes in the provision of individualized, comprehensive care in a compassionate environment that treats the whole patient. The main areas covered by the practice are Lawrenceville, Lilburn, Norcross, Tucker, Conyers, Lithonia and Stone Mountain. 

Dr Parris is committed to giving back to the community and as a result he and his colleagues participate at health fairs or walk/runs as well as other public and community events in order to promote awareness of rheumatic disease.
